The beginning

i really adore ur sketches and paintings and keep wondering what type of media u're using bcoz u know, i am not an artist and never involve in this painting stuff~ yet very eager to learn bout it.
I love, love, love the reds in this mama bird. For the longest time, I was always attracted to blue; i wore it, painted my room with it and sought it out in life. Now I am seeing a shift in my attraction to red. Upon reflection (what is said about the unexamined life?), I think that my desire for blue was my desire for soothing while I was experiencing anxiety attacks. Perhaps my shift to red is the need for a little POW in my new life as a homemaker? I don't know yet. Do you find you have different attractions to colours?

Thank you for your interest in my work and thumbnail sketches. I use good archival black ink pens for sketches with good drawing paper pads (canon). I use watercolor wash, then layer ink contour lines and pastel values/shapes in my paintings. I hope this answers your questions. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for your kind comments and for sharing your insights and experience with color in your life. I enjoy reading these snippets of personal experience. My love of turquoise and red stems from my childhood, watching my father create turquoise and coral necklaces. It seems it has always been a part of my life's palette. ;-)
